RUG CARE:

The beauty and quality of your Oriental rug can be maintained for decades with proper care and cleaning. Regular vacuuming will help prevent dust getting into the foundation of the rug. Avoid using the vacuum on the fringe as the fringe may get caught in the beater brush and tear. To extend the life of your oriental rug turn it 180 degree every year or two. This helps to even out your rugs' exposure to traffic and sunlight. Over time, grit and dirt become embedded so deeply that professional cleaning is required. Depending on the amount of traffic it is a good idea to wash you rug every three to five years. Cleaning should be done only by a professional cleaning service that specializes in oriental rugs, not by broadloom cleaner unfamiliar with the handwoven product. Whenever possible, clean a spill immediately before it has a chance to sit. Use a spoon to scoop up as much of the spill as possible, then blot excess liquid with a paper towel do not rub. Always blot from the outer edges towards the center to prevent the spill from spreading.

PADDING:
At Senneh Knot, we recommend padding under all rugs. Having a pad under your rug is extremely important. When a rug is placed on a hard surface, a good pad is an important safety issue. Small rugs can be particularly dangerous if pad is not used. Padding should be placed under all area rugs, because it helps to protect them from wear, and prevents them from moving and wrinkling. Your rug will not shift on the floor, it will be easier to vacuum, and plays a large factor in the life of your rug. We carry two high quality grades of padding.

Non Skid Plus: This pad is made of all natural rubber material; it will keep your rug in place while protecting the knots on the back of the rug.

Premium Pad: This pad has a natural non skid rubber backing on a felt like synthetic material for extra cushion, in addition to protecting the knots, it is a thicker pad which adds a nice soft feeling.
